Ad Buster project statement:
For this project I chose to subvert the meaning of the just do it logo made famous by the Nike shoe corporation. The intended audience is everyone. The message that I am putting forth is not that greed is good but that we should, all occupy resistance against greed. I Chose to do this image because I am both very aware of and involved in the Occupy movement. As a senior that is graduating in May, I am very concerned that I have accumulated all of this debt AND there are no jobs. This is a harsh reality for students all over this country. They, like me, are faced with a difficult decision of either returning to graduate school and acquiring more debt (while waiting to see if the economy stabilizes and jobs are created) or they can take the jobs that are available. Most of which are jobs they do not need their degree for. This problem must be addressed before it spreads like cancer among the middleclass. Banks must start lending to small businesses; big business must start paying their taxes and creating jobs; our government must be held accountable for going to bed with big business; consumers must be aware of what they are buying & where it comes from. Change begins at home. We the people need to stand up for ourselves to protect our democratic rights.
